Terms of Service
In force since 25 September 2026.
These terms govern the use of plyjoin.com and of the Plyjoin application. By using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service. They are written in plain English and contain no traps: wherever a clause limits your rights, it says so.
1. Who provides the service and who sells the subscription
The service is provided by Riccardo Brugugnoli, via della Cittadella 29, 44121 Ferrara (FE), Italy, VAT number IT 01433520291 ("we", "us"). Contact: info@plyjoin.com.
Subscriptions are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd (Judd House, 18-29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, United Kingdom), acting as merchant of record. This means the purchase contract for the subscription is concluded with Paddle: Paddle takes the payment, applies the tax due in your country, issues the invoice and handles refunds. We provide the service, under the conditions set out here. Paddle's own terms, shown to you during checkout, also apply to the payment.
2. What Plyjoin is
Plyjoin is a browser application for designing interlocking objects to be made with a laser cutter: you build the model in three dimensions from parts as thick as your material, the program works out the joints, and it produces a DXF or SVG file laid out for the machine.
All calculations happen in your browser. You need an up-to-date browser with WebGL support; on very old browsers, or with hardware acceleration disabled, the application may not start.
3. Account
To save projects online and to export files you need an account: a valid email address and a password are enough. You must provide accurate information, keep your password safe and not share it. You are responsible for what happens through your account, unless you report unauthorised use to us.
An account is personal: do not share it. If several people need it, each of them should open one.
The service is not intended for anyone under 16. If you are a minor, you may use it only with the consent and under the supervision of whoever holds parental responsibility, who is answerable for the use and for payments.
You can close your account at any time from the My account page: deletion removes the account, the projects saved online and your email address; it is immediate and cannot be undone. Download whatever you need first.
4. Plans, free trial and prices
The service is offered in three plans:
| Plan | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | free | parametric shapes, joints, booleans, DXF/SVG export on a single sheet, project picture with a signature, 2 projects kept online |
| Plus | €9 per month | everything in Free, plus sheet layout on your laser bed with automatic splitting, kerf compensation, the tabbed panel, sketching with Bézier curves, convert-to-sketch, snapping to steps, stacking, tabs-and-slots joints, unlimited online projects |
| Pro | €18 per month | everything in Plus, plus text as a cut part, SVG import, circular copy, magnetic snapping, pictures without the signature |
Prices are shown inclusive of VAT where tax is due on the final price, according to the rules of the country you are in; the exact amount and the taxes applied are shown before you confirm the purchase. The reference currency is the euro: if you pay in another currency, the conversion is made by Paddle at the rate of the moment.
New accounts get a 14-day free trial with the Pro plan's features. The trial needs no credit card and does not turn into a subscription: when it ends, the account simply reverts to the Free plan, with no charge.
What each plan includes may change over time: if a feature you are using moves to a higher plan, we will tell you 30 days in advance and you may cancel without penalty.
5. Payment, renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions are paid in advance and renew automatically every month until you cancel. Renewals are charged to the payment method you gave Paddle.
Changing plan. You can move to a higher or lower plan from the My account page: the change takes effect immediately and Paddle calculates the proration for the days remaining.
Cancelling. You may cancel at any time, with no explanation and no penalty. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for: until that day you keep the full plan, after which the account reverts to Free. Your projects are not deleted, but if you exceed the free plan's limit you will not be able to save new ones online until you remove some or subscribe again.
Failed payment. If a renewal fails, the account reverts to the Free plan immediately: you do not keep using features you have not paid for, and you owe us nothing. Paddle notifies you and retries over the following days; as soon as payment succeeds, your plan comes back on its own, with nothing to redo. The My account page has the link to update your card. We charge no late fees, we do not suspend the account, and your saved projects stay where they are.
6. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union you have the right to withdraw within 14 days of purchase, under Articles 9 and following of Directive 2011/83/EU, as implemented in Italy by Legislative Decree 206/2005. Consumers in the United Kingdom have an equivalent right.
Our policy is simpler than the law: within 14 days of your first payment we refund you in full, with no questions asked and regardless of how much you have used the service. Write to info@plyjoin.com or request the refund from Paddle; the refund is issued by Paddle to the same payment method, normally within a few working days.
After those 14 days, the subscription remains valid until the end of the period paid for and no partial refunds are due, except in the case of a fault under section 7.
7. Conformity guarantee
The service must work as described. If it does not, you have the rights granted by Directive (EU) 2019/770 on digital content and services, implemented in Italy by Legislative Decree 170/2021: you may require the service to be brought into conformity and, if that does not happen within a reasonable time, obtain a price reduction or terminate the contract with a refund.
In practice: if something breaks, write to info@plyjoin.com. If we cannot fix it, we refund the period you could not use.
8. Permitted and prohibited use
You may use Plyjoin for work, for hobbies, for teaching and for production runs: what you design is yours and you may sell it, owing us nothing and without crediting us.
You may not:
- attempt to circumvent plan limits, tamper with licence verification, or use features you have not paid for;
- decompile, disassemble or otherwise derive the source code of the application, except within the limits that copyright law makes mandatory;
- resell, rent out or offer the service to third parties as if it were your own;
- use the service for unlawful activities, to infringe the rights of others, or to design weapons;
- upload content that infringes other people's intellectual property;
- deliberately overload the service with automated requests or attempt to access other people's data.
If you breach these rules we may suspend or close the account: where possible we warn you first and give you a chance to put things right; in serious cases or where unlawful conduct is involved we act immediately. No refund is due for the unused period where an account is closed for breach.
9. Your projects and our property
Your projects are yours. Designs, dimensions, exported files and the objects you make from them remain your property and we acquire no rights over them. For the projects you choose to save online you grant us only the technical permissions needed to keep them and show them to you: storage, backup, transmission to your browser. Nothing else. We do not look at them, do not use them for advertising and do not give them to anyone.
If you choose to put a picture online. From the app you can upload a picture of your project and get an address to share. It is always your own act: nothing is uploaded automatically, and the project file is never sent — only the picture leaves your browser. By uploading it you authorise us to store it and serve it at that address, reachable by anyone with the link. The picture stays yours and the authorisation ends when you remove it from your account; from that moment the link stops working, although a copy may linger for a while in the caches of search engines and social networks, over which we have no power. By uploading it you declare that you have the right to do so; we may remove without notice a picture that breaks the law, third-party rights or clause 8.
The application is ours. The Plyjoin software, name, logo and website texts are protected by copyright and are licensed to you for personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable use for the duration of your subscription. The licence transfers no ownership.
Plyjoin includes third-party components distributed under open-source licences, in particular three.js (MIT licence) and Manifold (Apache 2.0 licence). Their licence notices are reproduced in the application's information window and continue to apply to those components.
10. Check before you cut
This section matters, and we ask you to read it properly.
Plyjoin computes joints, clearances and compensation from the values you enter: material thickness, joint clearance, laser kerf, bed size. The result depends on those values, on the actual material and on the machine you will use. Nominally identical materials vary in thickness, and every laser cuts slightly differently.
Before cutting a full piece, check the dimensions and run a test fit on a scrap. We are not liable for wasted material, machine time or parts that do not fit: checking the file before cutting is your responsibility, as is compliance with the safety rules of the machine you use.
11. Availability
We do our best to keep the service available, but we do not promise a guaranteed uptime percentage. The service may be suspended for maintenance, updates, faults or causes beyond our control. Where a suspension is planned and expected to be long, we give notice in advance.
You can also work offline, saving projects as files on your own computer: that is the best protection against any interruption, including the service shutting down.
12. Liability
We are liable for damage caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence and, towards consumers, for everything the law does not allow to be limited: nothing in these terms reduces the rights consumer law gives you.
Beyond those cases, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damage, loss of profit, loss of data not attributable to us, or damage arising from the use of exported files without the check described in section 10. Where a monetary cap is permitted, our total liability will not exceed what you have paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the event.
13. Changes to the service, prices and these terms
We may change the service to improve it, and a feature may change or be replaced. Changes that significantly reduce what you have purchased, price increases and substantial changes to these terms are notified to you by email at least 30 days in advance: until they take effect you may cancel and, if you have already paid for a period, we refund the unused part.
Formal changes, or those required by law, apply from publication, with the date at the top of the page updated.
14. Personal data
How we handle your data is explained in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
The contract is governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, any more favourable provisions of the law of your country of residence continue to apply.
For any dispute, the court of the consumer's place of residence or domicile has jurisdiction where that place is in Italy; otherwise the courts of Ferrara, Italy.
Before going to court, you are welcome to try to settle the matter by writing to info@plyjoin.com. If that does not resolve it, you may use the alternative dispute resolution bodies available under consumer law, without prejudice to your right to bring proceedings.
16. Miscellaneous
If any clause of these terms is void or unenforceable, the others remain in force. Our failure to enforce a right on one occasion does not mean we waive it for the future. You may not assign this contract without our written consent; we may assign it if the business is transferred, giving you notice and the right to cancel.
